Wendy Sharp
Award-winning violinist Wendy Sharp performs frequently as a recitalist and chamber musician. In demand as a teacher and chamber music coach, she serves as Director of Chamber Music and is a member of the violin faculty at the Yale School of Music, while also maintaining a private studio.
Sharp was the first violinist and a founding member of the acclaimed Franciscan String Quartet. The quartet toured the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, and was honored with awards including first prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Press and City of Evian prizes at the Evian International Competition.
A San Francisco Bay area native, she attended Yale University, graduating summa cum laude with distinction in music, and received her master of music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Sharp served for 21 years on the faculty of California Summer Music and has taught at Mannes College of Music, Dartmouth College, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She currently serves as a Fellow in Berkeley College and as a member of the board of Chamber Music America.
