Congratulations to YSM's Grammy nominees!

We're incredibly proud of the YSM alums who were nominated on Nov. 8 for the 2025 Grammy Awards! We hope you'll join us in rooting for these members of our community when the winners are announced on Feb. 2, 2025. 

Here are the YSM alums who've been nominated.  

The Lorelei Ensemble and composer Christopher Cerrone, ’09MM, ’10MMA, ’14DMA, were nominated in the “Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance” category for Cerrone: Beaufort Scales. Members of the Lorelei Ensemble include Kate Maroney ’06MM

The Skylark Vocal Ensemble, whose members include tenor Haitham Haidar ’19MMA and bass-baritone Andrew Padgett ’14MM, was nominated in the “Best Choral Performance” category for Clear Voices in the Dark

The Crossing, whose members include conductor Kevin Vondrak ’30DMA, vocalists Matthew Cramer ’17MM, James Reese ’18MM, was nominated in the category of "Best Choral Performance" for their album OCHRE. Composer and vocalist Caroline Shaw ’07MM wrote the title track to the album.

Sō Percussion and composer and vocalist Caroline Shaw ’07MM was nominated in the “Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance” category for Rectangles and Circumstance. Members of Sō Percussion include Eric Cha-Beach ’07MM, Adam Sliwinski ’03MM, ’04MMA, ’09DMA, Jason Treuting, ’01MM, ’02AD, and Josh Quillen ’06MM

Countertenor Daniel Moody ’16MM, soprano Molly Netter ’14MM, and baritone Edward Vogel ’19MM were nominated in the “Best Choral Performance” category for Handel: Israel in Egypt.  

Percussionist and composer Andy Akiho ’11MM was nominated in the “Best Classical Instrumental Solo” category for “Akiho: Longing” and “Best Classical Compendium” category for Akiho: BeLonging

Bass baritone Edmund Milly ’15MM was nominated in the category of “Best Choral Performance” for Sheehan: Akathist

Baritone Michael Chioldi ’94MM was nominated in the category of “Best Opera Recording” for Catán: Florencia En El Amazonas

Baritone Edward Parks ’08MM was nominated in the category of “Best Opera Recording” for Moravec: The Shining

Conductor Nadège Foofat ’06MM and clarinetist Garrick Zoeter ’96MM were nominated in the category of “Best Classical Solo Vocal Album” for their album, Bespoke Songs

Composer David Lang ’83MMA, ’89DMA, was nominated in the category of “Best Contemporary Classical Composition” for his album, Lang: Composition as Explanation

In the category of “Best Producer of the Year, Classical,” producer Erica Brenner ’89MM was nominated for her work on Biber: Mystery Sonatas, Handel: Israel In Egypt, Mozart: Piano Sonatas, Vols. 5 & 6Songs For A Friend - A Tribute To Trumpeter Ryan Anthony, and Sonic Alchemy.

And last but certainly not least, conductor John Adams, who received an honorary degree from Yale, was nominated in the category of “Best Opera Recording,” for his work with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale in Adams: Girls of the Golden West

We also extend congratulations to the musicians whose work in large ensembles has been nominated!
